Emily Westing (she/her) is a costume designer, wardrobe person, and stitcher based in NYC. She is currently a wardrobe swing on Broadway as well as the assistant costume shop manager for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular!
She is a graduate of the University of Evansville, where she earned a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology. She spent 2018-2019 on the road with the First National Tour of A Bronx Tale. Design credits include Sweat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sweeney Todd, Failure: A Love Story, The Cat in the Hat, and James and the Giant Peach.
During theatre's pause due to the pandemic, Emily opened WestingMade, an Etsy shop featuring watercolor art, greeting cards, and handmade giftable goods. Her miniature watercolor painting Snowy Harlem Side Street was included in Main Street Arts' Small Works 2022 exhibition. 10 Facts About Emily
1. My hometown celebrates its Dutch heritage every spring with Tulip Time, a festival dedicated to tulips and klompen shoes.
2. I grew up 20 minutes from the best coast in the United States: Salt and Shark free Lake Michigan.
3. I am a middle kid, and all three of us look alike.
4. As a kid, a swan dragged me into a pond when I offered to share my Fruit Loops with it. Our friendship did not continue.
5. My first attempts at sewing and clothing design were inspired by Generation T, a Do-It-Yourself book about repurposing t-shirts into new clothes and accessories.
6. More coffee? Yes please.
7. When I'm not working, you'll probably find me trying something new in the kitchen, doodling, painting, or writing.
8. During my year on tour with A Bronx Tale, I explored 23 cities, 25 museums, and six beaches.
9. I’ve traveled to nine different countries, including my study abroad semester at Harlaxton Manor in Grantham, England.
